“So are you saying I’m fat?”
Juno was a good movie.
I know all the advertisements for the movie are praising it (well that’s what advertising is supposed to do) but it’s not the great laugh out loud comedy I thought it was going to be. Some of my problems came with the humor itself; the movie follows a certain rhythm and by the time I caught on, I had missed a lot of quicker, subtle jokes.
What really disappointed me about the movie was the titular character of Juno. She’s witty, she’s mature, she’s pregnant and she’s uneven. There are some points in the movie where she acts and talks like a forty-five year old trapped in a teenagers and then there are moments when she’s just a teenager.
The transition between mature acting teenager to mere teenager was not clear and the lack distinction hurt my ability to understand some of Juno’s decision throughout the film (like why they didn’t use a condom).
I found a lot of the side characters interesting and complimentary to the story and Juno. I wish they had done more with a few more of the characters but what you do get of them was enjoyable.
The presentation of the movie was good but I really found myself hating the music.
I’m not sure why but it just seemed to grate on my nerves.
All in all, aside from the problems I had, the movie was good entertainment and if you’ve got nothing to do, a strong consideration.
